The Bus That Inspired the Product

Old Hong Kong buses were more than transport. Their route numbers, destination signs, colours and indicator lights became part of the visual memory of the city.

The design elements relevant to MiniHongKong are specific: bold route numbers designed to be readable from across a street. Destination blinds displaying terminus names in high-contrast white on black. Cream and burgundy colour combinations that define an era. Indicator lights showing status at a glance. Compact, dense arrangements of essential information β€” everything a passenger needs without wasted space.

From Bus Sign to Live Display

Classic Hong Kong buses made essential information visible at a glance. MiniHongKong carries that same visual language into a connected desktop display.

CURRENT WORKING PROTOTYPE

The First Working Prototype

The first MiniHongKong prototype focuses on proving the core idea: selected live Hong Kong bus information displayed clearly on a small Wi-Fi-connected screen.

The current pilot uses an existing black display casing. The interface is already inspired by old Hong Kong bus information design, while the future physical casing may continue to evolve.
